A popular gay bar located on Camplung Tanduk Street in Seminyak. Mixwell is a really fun place to hang out before heading to a nightclub. The bar has a reputation for excellent nightly drag shows and attracts a nice combination of both tourist and local guys. Tends to be busiest from 11pm to 2am.

If you find Mixwell, then you will find Bali Joe as it is quite literally next door.
You will likely end up bar-hopping between these two venues. Bali Joe matches Mixwell with its own cute go-go dancers and highly popular drag shows that feature plenty of audience participation singing along to popular gay anthems.
Throughout the night, there are a variety of stage and bar top performances including some pretty stunning Balinese go-go dancers and excellent lip-synced female impersonators. We loved the Beyoncé impersonator but had no idea how her wig remains attached to her head during this particularly high energy dance routine!
Drink prices are not the cheapest (75,000 IDR / US$8.50 for a G & T) but good entertainment is never free.

Facebar is a relatively new addition to the Dhyana Pura gay area. It is located between Bali Joe and Bottoms Up and, like the other bars in this street, features go-go dancers and female impersonators. However, the focus in Facebar is more on the go-go dancers with a ‘shower’ show and pole dancing. Second floor bar area is available for private parties.

beach (海滩)
Updated: 04-11-2013
For many years, there had been large, shaded area near Cellego café and massage spa that was effectively Bali’s ‘gay beach’. Unfortunately, at the beginning of December 2011, this popular area was completely closed down to make way for yet another beachfront hotel development.
Now the two beach areas that attract gay sunbathers are:-
- Batu Belig - further north from the original Callego beach – past the new W Hotel.
- Double 66 Beach – near the now closed Double 66 nightclub.
If you are looking for a private gay or gay-friendly villa or exclusively gay hotel close to the beach and gay scene, check out our Bali Villas page or our Bali Gay Resort & Hotel page.

cafe, beach (咖啡馆, 海滩)
Updated: 10-25-2012
Batu Belig beach is situated on the southern coast of Bali between Canggu and Berewa, close to Seminyak.
The gay area on Batu Belig beach is centered around a little cafe that has had most of its infrastructure stripped to the ground by the local government (all beach cafes on this beach have to had to remove buildings). The tables, chairs and sun loungers remain and food and drinks are still served.
The area is located close to the W Hotel and just 20 meters or so away from Zen for Men. The easiest way to get to this beach is via Jln Batu Belig.

“There is a fantastic little 7 metre strip of gay beach by Ocean Hotel on Double Six beach in Legian. Run by Putra, it attracts a steady flow of both local and foreign gay guys. As the sun goes down attracts a much larger mixed, but mostly gay and definitely gay friendly crowd. Can be difficult to find at first but the rainbow flags are easy to spot when you know what to look out for. There are chairs and umbrellas for rent and cold drinks available. If you are gay and want to be looked after on the beach then this is the place to go.” (with thanks to David)

Not gay, but your Bali experience cannot be complete without a visit to Potato Head in Oberoi. Potato Head is a wonderful place to enjoy a sunset cocktail on a lounger next to the swimming pool. The bar features an amazing façade constructed of old window shutters of all different colours and sizes. Enjoy this unique architecture, great views and selection of excellent chill-out music. Located next door to the W Hotel.

A great venue to consider while in Bali. Ku De Ta is a fabulous bar and fine dining complex located next to the beach in Seminyak. Their exceptional daybeds are one of the coolest places to see the sunset whilst sipping a cocktail.
Ku De Ta’s dining options are second to none. Each of the restaurants offers gourmet global cuisine with an international mediterranean twist from morning to night with bold flavors and faultless presentation.
Reservations are strongly recommended. Neat causal attire required in all dining areas. No shorts or vests after 4pm.
