The original ‘gay-friendly’ hotel in Bangkok that continues to attract gay travellers on a budget.  The Malaysia offers cheap rooms and the warmest of welcomes.  This is a ‘no frills’ hotel that some might say is showing its age, but the rooms are clean and comfortable.  Free WiFi in the public areas with a small extra charge for use in room.  The Malaysia is within walking distance of Babylon sauna, but you will need a taxi or tuk-tuk to get to the bars and clubs in Silom.

Modern, clean and comfortable budget hostel.  Helpful, young and gay-friendly staff.  Lub d offers bunk beds in dormitories or private double rooms.  Free WiFi.  Lub d has a coffee shop, although there is a huge choice of places to eat cheaply close by.  Ten-minute walk from the gay bars in Silom.

This very gay-friendly and great value guesthouse is a short taxi ride from the gay scene in Silom but within walking distance of Babylon and an MRT station. Simply furnished but comfortable rooms, all with air conditioning, TV and free WiFi. Vincent’s Restaurant serves some pretty good Thai food (closed Sundays).

This brand new Ibis (opened December 2012) in the heart of Bangkok and right the middle shopping district. The National Stadium Skytrain station is right next to the hotel, as is the MBK Shopping Center. Each guest rooms has a comfortable bed, LCD satellite TV, refrigerator, tea & coffee making facilities and a safety deposit box.  WiFi is free in all areas. Breakfast buffet is served between 6:30am and 10am. There is a restaurant, a bar, an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center. The gay nightlife in Silom is only two Skytrain stations away or 10 – 15 minutes by taxi. The Ibis shares the same building as the Mercure Hotel.
