A firm favourite with gay visitors, having earned its credentials as a very gay-friendly hotel by sponsoring the Gay Nation parties a few years back. The fact that Hotel 1929 is located just a short walk from many popular gay bars also helps.
Each room is has its own unique retro styling. There are two special suites with outdoor baths in tropical roof gardens. Like many other Singapore hotels, the rooms are quite small but fully equipped with a flat screen TV, tea/coffee maker, mini fridge, free WiFi.

The multi-million-dollar renovations have seen the 79 rooms completely revamped. We like the re-styled Porch rooms that have a secret garden and premium amenities including a Nespresso coffee machine and free WiFi.

One of the first ’boutique luxury’ hotels to open in Singapore. $45 million was spent converting a row of 1860’s shop houses and an 1924 art deco building into a rather bold and daring hotel.
Today, narrow corridors wind through the building to sumptuously designed rooms with names such as ‘Swank’, ‘Opulent’, ‘Passion’ and ‘Lavish’.
Rooms are smaller than average (from 15-30 m²) but have very comfortable beds and free WiFi. There is a small gym with free weights and an open-air rooftop restaurant and bar.

This stylish, slightly funky boutique hotel has 30 uniquely themed rooms, some of which feature outdoor bathtubs!
We love their Nespresso coffee machine, Kiehl’s products in the bathroom, free soft drinks and great buffet breakfast. Whilst standard rooms are relatively compact, they are also great value for money. Friendly and efficient service.

If a hotel invests in Sealy Posturepedic beds, covers them with luxurious cotton linens and a goose feather duvet and offers you a choice of pillows, then you can be pretty sure of a good night’s sleep.
We also like the art deco design of the Wangz and the modern rooms that have free WiFi, a flat screen TV, iPod dock & tea & coffee maker. The bathrooms have rain showers and Molton Brown amenities.
Wangz Hotel is a 15-minute walk from the bars, clubs and saunas in and around Neil Road or just a couple of minutes on a bus – there’s a stop outside the hotel.
