Hong Kong-Gay Saunas

A trip to the sauna is part of daily life for many gay men in Hong Kong. A chance to relax, unwind and have a bit of quick and easy fun.

Hong Kong’s many gay saunas are an integral part of scene.  Some are as much a place for socialising as they are for more intimate encounters.

Surprisingly spacious sauna (compared with some others in  Hong Kong) close to North Point MTR (Exit B1).  All the usual facilities including a dry sauna, steam room, dark room, private relaxation rooms and a rather nice outside courtyard with a jacuzzi.  Regular theme nights including towel free on Tuesday,Friday and Saturday nights.  Chaps attracts a younger Asian crowd, although the relaxed atmosphere is generally welcoming to all.  (If you try to visit Chaps web site note that it does take quite some time to load!)

  1. “I went to Chaps last Saturday night. They are open all night and it is a naked night, but there were only 8 people at 10.30 - 01.30 so not to much activity.”

One of longest-operating saunas in Hong Kong – but relatively small and a bit dated, compared with some newer venues.  Features a steam room, dry sauna and jacuzzi (all small) and a very limited number of relaxation rooms.  Central Escalator (CE) attracts a varied international clientele of Westerners and tourists.

CE can be a little difficult to find as there are no signs outside.  The entrance is on Gage Street. Go through the doorway immediately to the left of the 7Eleven store (on the corner with Cochrane Street).  Take the elevator to the second floor.
