This gay-owned resort is comprised of two properties that are less than 50 meters apart on a quiet street in central Siem Reap. The boutique resort offers beautiful contemporary-styled Khmer villas and suites with balconies and terraces. Standard room features include air conditioning, minibar, electronic safe and free WiFi.
Golden Banana has its own restaurant, and both the hotel and resort have a bar. The owner Dirk and his team can provide advice for exploring the town, surrounding tourist attractions and gay scene. A member of the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA), the resort has a high percentage of gay guests.

The gay-owned Cockatoo Nature Resort offers 7 rooms in a restored traditional Khmer house or the choice of two Balinese cottages in the gardens.
Features include a swimming pool, sun terrace, pool side bar and beautifully mature gardens. The onsite restaurant serves a selection of Khmer and Western food. All rooms have air conditioning, free WiFi, tea & coffee maker and free bottled water.
The Cockatoo resort has its own tuk-tuk service that will meet you at the airport. This service is also available to zip you to the gay bars, saunas and spas in Siem Reap.

Why this hotel: Close to nightlife. Colonial style. Well-appointed rooms.
Centrally located in the French Quarter, the Steung Siem Reap originally opened in the early 1920′s but was completely redeveloped in 2005. Much of the original French colonial character has been retained, and the Khmer/French styling continues through into the comfortable, spacious guest rooms that have beautiful wooden floors and soft furnishing.
Location-wise, the hotel is close to the markets, gay/straight bars and restaurants. Great service and very good value for money.
