GREAT LOCATION FOR G5 PARTIES – GREAT VALUE.  We like the dark masculine feel of this great value three star hotel located in the heart of the shopping district.  The location is perfect for G5 parties held at Luxy (the hotel is on the 12 floor the same building) and halfway between the Ximen gay district and Jump.  There are lots of places to eat close by (including a 24-hour sushi restaurant if you fancy a little something in the middle of the night).  Free WiFi.  Agoda – special discount on Standard Room (no Window no Twin) until 31st December 2012.

W Taipei

W Taipei *****

10 Zhongxiao East Road
Bedroom, Cafe, Restaurant, Shop, Swimming pool, Sun terrace, Gym, Spa  Last updated: April 18, 2012

We like W Hotels – and we know we are not alone.  Chic, cutting-edge design, combined with all the latest technical gadgets and great service.

The rooms have all the usual features (flat screen TVs, etc.) a fabulously comfortable bed and mood lighting.  Some rooms have great views of the Taipei 101.  The Toto toilet is of special note – a masterpiece of Japanese engineering.  It can detect your approach and warms up the seat.  About the only thing it does not do is say ‘have a nice day’ as you leave.  Wi-Fi is available but, disappointingly, at extra cost.  Boo.

Apart from the Wi-Fi fee, all our other boxes are well and truly ticked.  Good gym, nice pool, sun loungers, pretty good cocktails and a warm welcome for gay guests.

The W Hotel is pretty much ground zero for shopping and sightseeing (the Uni-Hanku Department Store is below the hotel; you can walk to the Night Market; and major attractions such as Taipei 101 are just a few minutes away).

The location is good for the G5 parties at Luxy or a night at Jump.  Most of the gay venues in and around Ximen can be reached in a few minutes by MRT.

San Want Hotel Taipei

San Want Hotel *****

172, Sec.4 Chung Hsiao E. Rd, Da-an District
Bar, Bedroom, Cafe, Restaurant, Gym  Last updated: April 18, 2012

Perfectly positioned for a G5 party as it is quite literally just across the road from Luxy (the G5 venue).  But it’s not all about partying the night away.  The San Want makes a great base for shopping and sightseeing.  Taipei 101 and many of the best shopping centres are all within walking distance, and the hotel is right next to a metro station.  There is also a great choice of restaurants and cafés (some open 24 hours) nearby.

All of the guest rooms are elegantly furnished and feature free Wi-Fi, complementary water, tea and coffee making facilities.   A good value for money option.
