Not a bathhouse, but a popular cruising and relaxation club for gay guys that welcomes people of all ages, types and nationalities.  TREFF (formerly known as Treffpunkt) is located not in Shinjuku but in a quiet neighborhood of Akasaka in Minato ward.  Features include private rooms, oral rooms, lounge area, smoking area.  There is a cover charge.  Discounts apply for gym members, youth 18-22 years old (ID required), groups of 3 or more people, and couples.  Check TREFF’s website for special events.

Popular gay sauna in Ni-Chome with three locations including Ueno and Asakasa.  With 8 floors, 24 Kaikan Shinjuku is the biggest cruising sauna in the area.  Foreigners are welcome.  Upon entry, you may be asked to show your passport.  The procedure is:  put your shoes in the locker and change into slippers, buy admission ticket from the vending machine, take the shoe locker key and ticket to the front desk, and receive a locker key and a bag with robe, face cloth, and bath towel.

There is a dry sauna, steam room, communal bath, tanning beds, video room and private rooms.  The reception floor has a snack room.  The rooftop floor is also equipped with a suntan room and a cold bathtub.  Private rooms are expensive, so most action takes place in the common rooms.  If you’re planning on spending the night there, trying to get some sleep may be a challenge, especially on the crowded weekends.  As the name indicates, this place is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A small, dimly-lit sauna for mostly younger crowd, HX is a popular spot for after-hours fun.  It is patronized mainly by locals, and not everyone is allowed in (long hair not allowed).  Located in Shinjuku close to Ni-Chome.  Cross the big main street Yasukuni-Dori that goes past Ni-Chome – between Shinjuku 1 Kita and Shinjuku 5 Higashi intersections – and go down the alley, just to the right of Mos Burger.  Opens 24 hours on the weekend.
