The Empire is a popular gay-owned and -operated bar & restaurant that specializes in serving Westerner-friendly Khmer food along with a decent selection of cocktails, beer and wine. Regular daily-themed specials include a Thursday ‘Steak Night’ and a rather battered ‘Fish & Chips Friday’.
The Empire ranked an impressive 6th out of 215 restaurants in Phnom Penh and had been awarded a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence – so they must be doing something right. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Free WiFi is offered, and customers are free to plug in and charge up their laptops.
The Empire recently launched itself as the second venue of The Flicks – the only expat movie house in Phnom Penh. On the second floor, you’ll find an intimate movie theater that can seat 20 people.
