Koh Samui is an island in the Gulf of Thailand, located about 700 km south of Bangkok. It is Thailand’s second largest island after Phuket, with an area over 200 km².
There is a huge range of activities and adventures for gay travellers, both in and out of the water. One of the more popular is scuba diving.
A great way to enjoy a fabulous day’s diving is in the company of other gay travellers and gay dive master Adam Preston, who runs Samui based Rainbow Scuba and Tours.
Before coming to Thailand over 12 years ago Adam had a very different life teaching at London University. He traded textbooks for fins and has never looked back.
“The guys in these photos were from South Africa and England. Two were certified scuba divers, but hadn’t dived for a long time, while another was taking the PADI open water course.” said Adam. “The calm clear waters around Samui have something to offer everyone from experienced diver to first time newbie.”
Adam follows international standards rigorously, but it’s a totally relaxed and friendly gay experience. A normal scuba day trip consists of hotel transfers to and from the dive boat, two dives, drinks, lunch and all equipment.
For more experienced divers, Adam offers the opportunity for overnight dive safaris to the nearby Ang Thong National Marine Park, a stunning archipelago of 42 islands. This experience includes two days at sea, sleeping overnight on a converted fishing boat.
