Why this hotel? Gay-owned hotel Large, vey comfortable rooms. Beautiful view. Free WiFi.
The exceptional, gay-owned Islington Hotel, which overlooks Mount Wellington, is located within a house that was originally built in 1847 , just a few minutes’ drive from Hobart’s town centre.
We love everything here – super comfortable beds, free minibar, iPad, large bathroom with rain shower, the ‘open plan’ kitchen & dining room concept and the stunning lounges.
The place had been restored and holds a unique collection of the owner’s artworks and furniture. We recommend Garden Rooms which have direct access to the gardens and views of Mount Wellington.
Excellent service and food. Tea, coffee, freshly baked (and totally delicious) cookies and muffins are available all day long. The staff are knowledgeable about Hobart and its surroundings and offer great advice of what to visit.

Overlooking Sullivan’s Cove and Hobart’s city centre is Corinda, a stately Victorian mansion. Corinda’s historic outbuildings, the gardener’s cottage, the servants’ quarters and the coach house are delightful and self-contained.
Each luxurious cottage features a fully equipped kitchen, laundry and bathroom with modern appliances cunningly hidden from view. Your gay hosts provide a welcome breakfast hamper, regular towel and linen changes. Free WiFi and off-street parking available.
No cooked meals are provided, but there are many excellent restaurants in the Hobart city centre (about 5 minutes’ walk away).

Why this hotel? Gay-owned hotel in St Marys. Eco-friendly & private. Stunning scenery.
This gay-owned wilderness eco-lodge (previously called “Rainbow Retreat”) is located close to St Marys in northeastern Tasmania, just a few minutes away from the stunning Douglas Apsley and Mount William National Park with an endless choice of walks and explorations.
Each of the three open-plan, timber-lined, eco-friendly cabins has excellent ocean views. Each cabin has a queen-sized bed, bathroom (hand basin, shower, toilet), potbelly stove, dining area, LCD TV.
You can cook your own meals or have them prepared by the in-house chef (recommended – we loved the food!).

Why this hotel? Modern, stylish rooms. Near Tamar Valley wineries. Great value. Free WiFi.
Launceston is the second largest city in Tasmania and, as it has an airport, an alternative starting or ending point of a journey around the island.
Mantra Charles Hotel is just a 5-minute drive from what Australians like to call the “Central Business District” (aka the shopping centre). The hotel offers bright, stylish, high-ceiling rooms with comfortable beds, free WiFi and blinds that overlap vertically to keep out the sunlight.
Parking is free, although we are not quite sure the architect got it right by using glass around the parking bays! A decent breakfast buffet is offered with hot items cooked to order. Great for an overnight stop.
