Taiwan Pride 2012

The tenth Taiwan Pride Parade will be held on the 27th October in Taipei.  This year, the campaign theme is focused on equal marriage rights.

Around 50,000 people took part in the 2011 Parade.  Organisers will be hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.  The parade is expected to finish in Ketagalan Boulevard.

Taiwan Pride is very special for a number of reasons – not just because it is the largest event of its type in Asia.  Unlike Pride Parades in many Western countries, the Taiwan event is still a social campaigning movement and not dominated by commercial sponsors.

Additionally, the Parade is a real change for those taking part – as the roads are not closed to traffic!

This year the organisers have produced a video to support the theme of the parade “Love all the Same, the Same Kind of Love”.
