Not gay couple friendly, but gay sex friendly... Weird!?
“Why doesn't travelgayasia have some basic information up front about hotels in Vietnam?
First time in Vietnam, Agoda has no information about local laws requiring two people sharing a room to be married. Hotels used this to warn me that a second guest would cost US$15 extra, a note buried in the fine print of hotel policy on Agoda. Everyone else I spoke to said they never had this problem, but they weren't gay. However, there were plenty of gay couples coming and going. I didn't get a chance to talk to any of them. There was no problem having male visitors if they didn't stay overnight. Ironic, isn't it? This is very discriminatory towards gay couples in a relationship. Agoda should deal with this issue. Note that Vietnam is considering becoming the first Asian nation to legalize gay marriage.
I wouldn't stay here again. I recommend staying very near the Opera House where the streets are wider and you can walk them without your path being blocked.
Pleasant staff, comfortable place albeit rather old. Power cuts one day and a day of constant noise from a generator. Front rooms are noisy from traffic below, even on top floor. Wifi was intermittent and unreliable. Undisclosed charging for 2nd person:“

“Hi Simon. We are very surprised to hear that you had a problem in Vietnam. Various members of the Travel Gay Asia team, and many of our friends, have stayed in Vietnam with partners in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city and never experienced the problem you encountered. A few hotels may take a different attitude towards bringing a non-checked in guest back (male or female) for the night.“
