  2. Mainland China sauna

“I dropped by on a recent trip to Shanghai. The saunas in Hong Kong are larger and cleaner, with more selection of guys. Mainland guys are definitely...earthier, ha. Some quite rude, especially in the densely packed 'dark room', shoving is a turn off. But other guys were very sweet. Kudos to the friendly staff guy who helped me when I locked my key in the locker. He was very flirty, which was nice. A couple of the younger guys found me acceptable, to my delight. And friendly middle-aged guys struck up a convo in the shower (I speak Chinese well). So overall, it's run-down, but mainland guys can be down-to-earth in a way that Hong Kong guys usually are not.“

  3. Interesting...

“There are changing rooms, open showers, steam bath, Finnish dry sauna and hot dark room (about 45 degrees Celsius). On the first floor is a rest area and a smoking room. This place is for club members with few foreign visitors. Open 24 h (foreign visitors must be out at midnight).
The average age of visitors is over 40 years. The bath is a little worn out, outdated and for Chinese standards expected. It is not clean enough.“

  4. Best in shanghai

“I have been to the previous Ding Lin sauna and the new sauna is definitely a good visit being a foreigner you get plenty attention and the steam room is a treat with loads of guys playing. The dry sauna is not as busy but good for a quick rest before the next round. The guys at the door are very helpful there is a application charge of 70 RMB for new members and you will need a 1 yuan coin for the shoe locker but was well worth it.“

  6. Seriously never again!

“I'm an Asian Chinese but I felt I was extremely unwelcome at this establishment. I have a resonably "desirable" body. But sadly, the cliente mix here is VERY low and I left the place within 1 hour as no one bothers me as much as I want to be bothered by them. Filthy is the new standard there.“

  7. Back to basics

“Conveniently located and hard to miss... Came here Sunday 11/9/2016 4-6:30pm, based on recommendations that it's busiest on weekends. It certainly was busy with about 30 guys just in the wet area. The dark rooms are where the action happens which also happens to be the sorry excuse of the steam rooms (I spent a good five minutes exploring the upstairs thinking they were there). The amenities are sparse and you are certainly grateful for the sandals they provide. However, what they lack in venue they make up in the uninhibitedness of the guys. There were more and younger guys continuously arriving as I was leaving.“

  8. Chinese standard

“Well I just went there last week on Saturday night. Well as I travel to many sauna around the world (Japan, Thailand and UK) this one is the worst I've been to. However as I understand the environment of cleanses of Chinese people in Shanghai I understand why it look like this. However, I don't think I should accept it because of that reason. Admission fee is 20RMB but u have to pay for membership if you are foreigner and it cost 50RMB. So total will be counted at 70RMB!!! For first visit access. Oh :) about stay late, on Friday and Saturday night you can pay 20RMB more for stay to 2am. And the system of sauna here is a bit different than every place I've been to (no English) and most of things you have to PAY lol!!“

  9. If you are foreigners u are Not allowed to enter after 24:00

“I visted there two days ago about 01:30am
And there was a local guy next to me. He entered sauna and I also tried to pay the entrance fee...but the manager said I cannot enter the sauna because I am a foreigner.. He said if I entered earlier then I should get out before 24:00. Because foreigners are not allowed to sleep overnight. He said there is no exception. I was so frustrated because my hotel was so far from this sauna and that time it was not easy to catch a cap on the street. Travel Gay Asia said it is 24hours open. But it's not true for foreigners..“

  10. decent place

“Went there last Sunday...first time to sauna in Shanghai. Reasonably friendly place, and as a foreigner, got a lot of attention. Mixed crowd age wise, but attractive guys were there. All the action seems to occur in the dark rooms, which I don't really like as you can see next to nothing. But overall was a fun experience. I will be back.“

    • Foreigners must leave sauna before 24:00

“Dod you know that..? Ridiculous...even It is not closed only foreigners should leave before 24:00 with same entrance fee..?? I arrived at 1:35am. And was not allowed to enter because I am a foreigner. Took taxi about 25 minutes from hotel. Frustrated and now should go back to hotel.. This website(Travelgayasia) gave wrong information so I wasted my precious time and money.. It says this sauna is 24hours. It is wrong it is open 24 hours just for Chinese...not foreigners...“

  18. Not 24 hours. Wasted my time - twice.

“I went on a Thursday night and upon entering, I interrupted the staff (?) eating and watching TV. The only things said to me in English were, "Sorry. Closed. Come back tomorrow." I came back on Friday night shortly after midnight. This time they pointed to a sign on the counter that said, "All Foreigners must leave by 24:00." I wasted over three hours of cab rides and money going back and forth. Neighborhood is sketchy. Not for the nervous types.“

        • new address

“The new address is Huiwen Road No.50 (会文路50号). It is 5-min walk from Exit 2 of Baoshang Road (宝山路) metro station (Line 4) and Exit 1 of Zhongxing Road (Line 8). It is located on the 1st floor with the big wooden doors. Name clearly marked. One of the the reception guys can speak English a little. You say "first time" and he will guide you how to do. It relocated in May 2015, so facilities are still clean. There are two dark steam saunas and one very bright dry sauna. Crowded in the weekend with 30's to 50+ people (a very few 20's), but now much going on in the dark sauna. Please bring 1 CNY coin for the shoes locker.“

  22. Visit

“Visited Saturday. I'm in my mid 20's. Quite busy with many locals, aged 20-+++. Description of place fits with many other reviews. Three dark rooms down stairs, large open room as well with showers, small sauna. Upstairs has drinks shop (pay when leave), lounges , massages, TV rooms (not playing porn).

Overall a very overwhelming experience, only westerner that visited that night, and with a small face towel very hard to protect your dignity with all the groping (best to laugh it off). Saunas are generally quite dirty but couldn't smell any chlorine which is a worry. There where many younger Chinese men which was good, some of which speak English, one of which went out to dinner after to chat etc (nice experience). I don't want to say this because all with an open mind should visit, but I probably wouldn't visit again.“

  23. Old age sauna !

“Visited this spa in Oct-14. Went there in search of expats (non-locals) but was really disappointed.
If you like old/mature locals then this would be an ideal place.
You pay some amount around 70-80 RMB which includes entry fee and entitles you for membership, which means you only pay 50 RNB for your next visits.
Once you enter you get a napkin, slippers and locker key to drop your stuff.
You then enter in big hall having a small indoor pool surrounded by open showers, two dark rooms, a steam room and sauna.
I was the only foreigner there and found all older approaching me. Left after an hour. Never to visit again!“

  24. “It is indeed the largest gay sauna in Shanghai. On Saturday it was full of people, about 200+. On the weekend the fee was $50, however a private room is at an extra charge about $60. Well, it is a great place to meet people. Most men are mature Asian crowd but also mixed with some younger guys. The space of the sauna is large (two floors) including a small gym, a KTV room, one table tennis game, two big TV rooms, a big shower room with steam rooms and sauna, and a lobby. You could see some people who don’t mind to be watched at play in the public TV rooms.“
