“All valid that it's value for money and close to the Ram bar and the Secrets, never mind the Orion which is really a sidewalk stall bar far from being a gay bar. The dismay I had with this hotel is that it attracted a lot more budget family travelers with their unruly children and loud parents. Lazing by the pool would have been a good idea had it not been for the noise and disagreeable conducts (smoking in non smoking area and loud talking and swearing in their native languages) by others (not too uncommon). As pool attendant is not around most of the time one had to resolve to self help in reminding fellow travelers not to smoke in the nonsmoking area, not a pleasant experience, if daunting. All in all this is still a well priced hotel with good buffet breakfast and really is in a convenient location. As to gay attraction in the hotel? My experience has been non existing (I stayed for almost a week and the pool was my favorite spot). The close by gay bars are really very small operation compared with bangkok, often with less than half a dozen people in it. Think about a small shanty town worn out joint. ....but chiang mai is not a shanty town!“
