1877 Huaihai Middle Rd, Xuhui DIstrict, Shanghai, China

Reported CLOSED.

A Shanghai institution. Opened in Weihai Lu in 1995 and moved to Huaihai Lu in 2002, Eddy's Bar is the longest-running gay venue in Shanghai and still pulls in crowds of locals and expats.

A great place to hang out before heading to the clubs. The bar has an interesting décor, combining grey slate, Chinese lanterns and Asian art. Great service and affordable drinks. Busy after 10pm.

Closed!

Folks, this place is closed. Even trying to get here based on Google Maps is impossible. It took us down two either private or public street on which a guy in flips flops, GAP t-shirt and Bermuda shorts came out of a guard building and shooed us away angrily. I assume that since Eddy's is listed as the oldest gay bar in Shanghai and this is where Google Maps sends people that many other lost LGBTQ types roam onto this guy's street. Don't waste your time. Go spend time at the mall like everyone else.

Bill from USA

I have been going to Eddie's since 2009... I find this bar to be on the level of Laffitte's in New Orleans, La.. This is the bar I always begin my night when out and about in Shanghai... Great place to sit and drink with friends !

Super Quiet

Really quiet bar, not really inviting atmosphere either - the bar is in the centre and then there are chairs all around it, so it gives off a really separate and closed off atmosphere. Drink was also mediocre. Kind of disappointed. Total of like 12 guys, half locals half foreigners.

Great decor and friendly

This bar was great. Greeted by friendly doorman. Very crowded on a Saturday night. Good drinks reasonable prices. I would recommend it for the out of towner.

Boring place

Understand from my Shanghai friends that Eddy's Bar is one of the oldest bar in Shanghai but it is slowing losing it's lustre. True enough, I visited this place on a Saturday and there were barely 10 people in the bar. Drinks were not exactly cheap and the place looked rundown. Will not visit again.
