AWFUL EXPERIENCE!

I can’t express how disappointed I am in FDP. After putting in so much research into choosing a good place, I really wanted to love it. I am FURIOUS and THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED. I spent weeks reading articles and forums about the best colourist for blonde hair and once I found FDP, I was quoted about $400-$500 for highlights. I got my hair done just in time for the holidays. Angeline the colourist/owner and I decided that we would do balayage and an Olaplex treatment, no costs were ever discussed. I clearly explained that I wanted some thin highlights around my face to frame it so it would be brighter. I also had several reference photos. I said I wanted to keep some of my cool-toned platinum at the bottom so it can be more of an ombre – no problem. 7 hrs later, it was time to style my hair. Instead of blowing it out with a brush properly, she basically just used an iron. I have thin, colour-treated hair; there was a lot of steam coming out of my hair when she did it and it started to smell a bit burned. I put it to the back of my mind, she was supposed to know best and I trusted her. In the end, my hair looked nice and I was feeling happy. When I went to pay, she told me it was just over $1,000….but with discounts it was $800+. I didn’t ask at the beginning because I assumed it would be about $500, maybe $600 because of the treatment. I’ve never paid more than $650 for my hair (full head of highlights and treatment). I actually didn’t know what to do - I felt trapped and shocked that they hadn’t at least warned me it would be this expensive. I actually paid for it because I didn’t know what else to do. THE NEXT MORNING….a feeling of horror and revulsion crept up on me. The burned smell hadn’t gone away. They fried my hair. There are insane split ends at the bottom (even after I had a cut) and when I run my hands through my hands, some ends just FALL OFF, leaving broken ends of on the floor. Also, my hair never had any volume because it was just straightened with an iron. I also noticed that while the top layers of my hair looked great, she hadn’t framed my face with thin blonde highlights like I had asked. And she told me AT THE BEGINNING that FDP was known for it’s strategic highlighting. When I tuck my hair behind my ears or put it in a ponytail, I look like a skunk the colour difference is so massive (light blonde with practically brown) EVERYWHERE except for the top of my hair. The sides and underneath are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COLOURS. ANOTHER ISSUE – she didn’t keep my cool-toned platinum at my ends like I had asked, they look exactly the same colour as the top half of my head. WTF? I wasn’t this mad when I first contacted them about this the day after I got it done. I sent a nice email with pictures of my hair. No reply. I knew they were closed for Christmas for the following 5 days so I waited patiently for a reply. No reply. I called the salon every single day last week (I emailed an additional 2 times and sent FB messages) just wanting to hear that Angeline had received + acknowledged my emails and gave enough of a shit to fix an $800 job that I didn’t like. The more she ignored me, the angrier I got. I am now 2 days shy of the 2-week mark and there has been complete RADIO SILENCE. I finally got a response on FB saying that I would get a response ‘at the end of the week’ . I paid $800 and I don’t deserve as much as a quick call or email to set up an appointment to see what can be done? DO CUSTOMERS HAVE TO WAIT 2 WEEKS TO HEAR BACK? Even then I don’t trust that she will contact me or ever do anything to fix this because she’s clearly not in this to make people feel good about themselves. Never in MY ENTIRE LIFE have I seen such bad customer service. I can’t believe this is how customers are treated, especially when they shell out that kind of money. I’m going to post this everywhere I can to get the word out. AVOID FDP AT ALL COSTS. Hidden costs, BEYOND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER service…it’s just so shameful.
