Another all-male, all-naked spa with authentic Japanese-styled surroundings, located right behind Kawayu Spa. Busy on the weekend after dark.

You can use the same entrance as Kawayu and walk all the way to the back, across the bridge over a nice natural stream and waterfall. Or just follow the sign with 關於皇池 characters from the parking lot.

Huang Shi is said to be more popular with bears and muscular men. If you spend over NTD400 at the restaurant, you will get free tickets to the spa.

Take a taxi from Beitou Station or bus #508, 535 from stop A at Shipai Station.

  1. Wonderful experience, lovely crowd

“Disclaimer: I am not a local. I’m a tourist, and apparently, I look different from everyone else so I got some really discriminating stares. But they seemed to evaporate on thin air right after smiling at the locals.

It was my first (and second time because I went twice during my visit) at a hot spring, and I did not understand a single thing (like any directions). Staff don’t speak English. I just followed other people who are coming inside.

I’ve seen lots of great bodies of different sizes (including their members), and I’d say I’m pretty pleased with what I see. Some are really sexual who would look at you like a meal. Some are friendly stares, but most people don’t care. Or maybe because I have a dark brown skin compared to the general public which I guess was the reason why I became a “person to watch out for” every single time.

I experienced the steam room (wet sauna) fun. Saw a lot of guys enjoying the sight and the feel of someone else’s body. I even got cornered a couple of times, and experienced their “hospitable hands and lips”. I’d say both days were equally rewarding. If you would ask, I came in at around 8pm on a weekday, and left at around 11:30pm.

But most of all, since being a tourist, I got treated by two locals well who even sent me to my hotel right after the spa experience (one of which is constantly communicating with me still, and plans to meet me when I come to Taipei again).

Overall, the spa experience (the pools) are a welcome experience. I loved the feel of the water into my skin right after. I will definitely return to Huang Chi as soon as I am back in Taipei.“

  2. Gay Unfriendly; Don’t Go on Weekday

“First, it’s not very gay friendly - locker room and toilet are not for any actions. You just can’t have fun there. The steam room has a window so outside can peek into it. The area is so open that you’ll be so embarrassed to have a boner walking around.

Second, don’t go on a weekday afternoon. I went at 2pm after lunch (lunch wasn’t very good btw). There were only local elders (like 20) until a few gay guys kicked in at 3:30pm. Like I said, you can’t really have fun there... it’s just a normal hot spring... don’t expect anything gay action, just go and enjoy!“

  3. Relaxing

“The most difficult thing is getting there, finding the right place and returning to the MRT station. All the signs are in Chinese. After arriving in the parking lot walk down the path and it’s the one with the grand entrance on the left. Buy a ticket (NT$250) when you walk in then walk past the restaurant on your left to the end then take the stairs down to your right. I went on a Friday, midday.

It’s fully naked so keep that in mind and BRING A TOWEL to dry off. They don’t provide one so I had to drip dry. Mostly old men when I went but a few younger guys showed up. Even with the glass front steam room and dry sauna there’s still action. When leaving you will either have to wait a long time for a taxi or call Uber, like I did. Taxi there was NT$135, Uber back was NT$265.“

  4. Well worth a visit. Eye candy heaven.

“Once you get past the surly unhappy unfriendly front desk staff, Huang Chi Spa is a great experience. There are 7 different pools (if you could call the lie down one a “pool”) and two saunas. What is impressive is just how friendly everyone is. Really welcoming, and I have never left there without making a new friend or two.

As for action, well it has definitely increased since Huang Ding closed down (end April 2018). All action takes place in the steam sauna, and increases markedly after dark. However, if you see two people sitting very close in a pool with no hands to be seen...well you get the picture.

I haven’t eaten at the restaurant as all the people I’ve spoken to describe it as “just okay”. But probably worth a try given the spend 400, get free spa entry deal.

I note an earlier reviewer’s comment that the patrons are unattractive. I beg to differ.“

  5. Not really gay

“Busy, with some gay guys, but with no proper gay environment like Huang Ding had before it closed. The pools are also a bit too busy and it's not that relaxing.“

  6. Interesting place for Onsen but nothing else

“Very cheap NT250 entrance fee, open Onsen, 90% are unattractive middle age or old men. No sure or don't care they are gay or not. Just relax and enjoy the Onsen.“
