Unlike other floating markets in Thailand, Pattaya Floating Market does not actually float. The 27-acre site (opened in 2008) is a very large lake within which 'islands' of shops & cafés have been built on stilts - all connected by wooden walkways.

The style of each of the island buildings reflects, to a degree, the architecture of Thailand's four regions.

A bit touristy but still a well thought-out and an interesting place to visit, with opportunities to buy authentic art & craft products, sample some pretty good regional Thai food and watch Thai dance & martial arts displays.

Save yourself the trouble

It's a bit of a mission to get to this place (I rented a motorbike) and I really do believe it's not worth the effort. It's not really a floating market. If you want to visit a real floating market you need to visit one in Bangkok. This is just a tourist oriented waste of time and money. Very disappointing.
