I heard this was the club to go to in to Singapore, and gave it a go on a recent Sunday. It was atrocious! Massive speakers pumped out noise on either side of the stage. About as sophisticated as a high school sock hop. The bass reverberated through the concrete dance floor. Some clues for management: acoustics, surround sound, hardwood floor. A good dance club has bass that flows though my hair, massages my breast bone, and doesn't leave me unable to have a decent' mouth to ear' conversation. It's more about feeling the music, than being assaulted by it. Gay Singaporeans for years have been have been supplicating to the big club managers for Sunday nights. Abandoning the decent gay bars they have in the process. Granted, the Zirca venue has a decent sized stage for the show, which on the night I was there was a quite competent spoof James Bond. If taking that approach, maybe it's time for a 'we'll take your Sundays, if you give us the first Saturday of every month' approach. On a visit earlier this year, I gave "Sunday at Avalon" a go. Maybe they should call it "Bling". As is, it does it's namesake in LA a disservice.
