  1. bad service for an overpriced massage

“I am a regular monthly customer of this spa and today is one of its worst services ever. I was not even treated right when I told him that I will not give him 500k vnd as a tip. He didnt do well with his massage and I was not so pleased. He didn't even help me shower or even offer a cup of tea unlike the usual time I went there. He was angry the whole time of the massage and I was not happy at all. I miss the days when they have welcoming guys doing a good massage.“

  2. Terrible Service

“I was here last year and service was good but this visit was really bad. The guy at front was not polite, sent me upstairs did not get to choose got this little feminine guy that was nice but my massage lasted 20 min back only no legs then he said "front" and then just began having fun..... I was not at all interested I was so upset. When I checked out the guy at front just held his hand out for payment. I was standing inside waiting for my taxi and he literally opened the door and told me to wait on the street! Unbelievable! That's the last time I go there!“

  3. No sauna, no credit card, no guys to see

“Despite the ratings, I checked this place out because it was closest to my hotel.

Description claims sauna and bathes. Host says no and tries to sell me a room and a massage from seven guys he claims are upstairs.

Such a waste of time. “

  4. Terrible!!intimidating

“My partner and I went and had a massage today. We were not given a choice of who we had. The guy who have me a massage was a nice guy but the experience was awful at best. He then told me I had to tip him 500'000 which I refused he then ignored me and walked off. I have had massages 'gay friendly' and normal ones. This was the worst. I think is also down a dark ally not in the town. My partner had a similar experience and walked out of his massage. I would advise that the staff have some training and leave the tip up to the customer. btw I did tip as I felt bad but it was so bad. Sorry guys just awful.“

  6. not encourage these spas sites

“When I was looking to go to a spa for gay men, we do not think me and my boyfriend that was what really is. We wished we had [not] gone to zspa because although we were looking for a bit of male massage and perhaps a little play, actually somewhat resembles a site hostess and the excuse is massage ... There will never repeat a visit to a place like this, it is demeaning to anyone and also gay audience. We not recommend it.

    Spanhis

  8. Not so good

“Back visiting Hanoi, and returned to ZSpa. Found out that Dat, the best massage man there, who had given me the best massage (and cute face/body!) in years past, no longer works there. I tried another man, nice smile, but awful massage technique. Seems like many of the men are not well trained at all. Not sure if I will return to ZSpa, as many of the men are not well trained.“

  9. Intimidating Experience

    “Intimidating Experience.

This is not a nice place and I don't know if it was clean because everything was dark.
    The experience was intimidating because:
    1) At the beginning there was a room like a shop window with guys (the "masseurs") watching you waiting to be chosen.
    2) For the final relax moment (happy ending), the masseur lied down next to me and I really did not want this kind of intimacy with him. I just wanted to finish.
    3) In the end the masseur looks at you and asks for the tip and he was not happy with a tip any lower than the price of the massage itself.

Positive: the massage was good, but I could not enjoy the moment.
    I do not recommend it

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Experiencia intimidante

  11. Great massage from Dat and Binh!

“While visiting Hanoi for the first time, I read all the reviews on men only spas and read reasonably good things overall about Zspa and Dat and Binh as great masseurs. I booked a two hour 4 hand massage with Dat and Binh since I have never done a 4 hand massage before.

Both Dat and Binh did a great job on the massage! But I must admit that 4 hands got to be a bit much after a while. So after 1.5 hours, I had Dat finish the massage on his own. Both gave a great massage and are attractive but I found Dat's swimmers build more my type than Binh's more solid muscular physique. Dat finished the massage much to my amazement! I tipped them well in excess of the 1.1 million dong (50 US dollars) price of the massage. It was worth every penny!“

  12. Zspa uneven and unsophisticated

“I had a solid massage here but was perplexed. The person I brought with me, who I was treating to a massage, had a disaster. In fact, he was supposed to have the best (Deluxe) massage to my "VIP" one. It was the opposite. The guy continued to ask for a tip before the massage was even finished. Odd things, like not doing half of the body (nothing on front, most of the back, one arm or foot left out of process) and not knowing how to massage at all, were obvious glares. I'd not go back also due to guy at door not having a clue (on how much to tip, on english, on any sort of class whatsoever). Skip this place.“

  13. Ideal place for a massage

“I went there on my last day in Hanoi(24/9/15) at 3 pm. Before that I called up to check with the Receptionist and find that they don't sound rude as what some put it on the web site.

3 types of room to choose . Standard, VIP and Luxurious. Standard is cheap but you can hear next room conversion that's because they are partition from a single room. You want privacy, you should go for VIP or Luxurious. I choose the VIP.

You have one hour, one and the half hour and 2 hours to choose for your massage. If you only go for massage you should choose 1 hour after all you can extend your timing. I selected 1 hour.

To ensure you got a proper massage, you should informed the Receptionist in advance. Tell them you are here for a good massage or otherwise you will not tip the masseur. The Receptionist is able to understand English but might not be able to speak well. He is very helpful.

The second floor is the fish tank. There are 10 masseurs to choose. If you don't know how to choose put your trust on the Receptionist he will ensured you get what you want. But of course you must tell him what you're looking for. I choose one with the big smile on his face because the rest look serious.

I have a massage on my back ,head, legs, toes, then arm, finger and chest. A very good massage. I have extended half an hour for happy time not because he pestered me. He never discussed price with me. I just tipped him accordant to my feeling.

At the Reception, I can figured out the Receptionist was asking the masseur whether he got forced the client to pay him high tip. I think I have pampered the masseur. Is not true that you must pay tip in accordance to how many percentage to the massage fee. Is all depend on your own feeling.

I strongly recommend other to visit this Z SPA. Remember to come by taxi not the motorcycle taxi. They will cheat you. Taxi in Hanoi is real cheap.“

  14. Rushed Affair

Time starts on the dot once you decide on your package at the ground floor, not even the masseur.
2hrs includes 5-10 mins shower at the beginning, 10 mins his shower in the middle, and 5-10 mins shower at the end.
Chose at guy as recommended by some on on travelgayasia. He rushed through the massage and glanced multiple times at the clock. Massage was okay but I felt like the whole experience was really just about going through the motion waiting for time to pass. Heard him sniffing some time through the massage and glanced back to ask if he was okay and he was wiping his nose right before continuing with the massage...
Would probably recommend other massage places in Hanoi!“

  16. Amazing Spa

“I am French and I was in Hanoi. I went to Zspa one afternoon without booking and, trust me, it was worth it. I have taken 4 hands massages, 90-min in VIP room (it is enough). The first part (massage) was perfect, the two guys were kind and the massage was very relaxing and well done (hot stones... all OK). The second part was amazing. I cannot say more, but the happy end was like a firework. If you go there, try to get the masseur THAI - a VERY nice guy. At the end, you have to pay for the room, of course, and tip for each masseur. Don't forget they live with it, and so I gave 600.000 dongs each! Really deserved. Pour ceux qui comprennent mal l'anglais je ne puis rien dire d'autre qu'aller à Zspa est une rêve dont on se souvient longtemps!“

  17. The best experience

“It took a bit of courage to visit Zspa but I decided to give it a go. I arrived at the place and was met by a very nice guy who showed me the rooms and cost. I chose the luxury room as actually it was not that expensive. He wanted me to choose a masseur but I did not feel comfortable choosing so I asked him to give me a friendly nice guy. An older guy called Dai collected me and took me to the luxury room with shower. I have had many good massages in England but this was clearly the best ever. After a shower he worked for nearly an hour with scented oil and hot stones, he then gently kissed me on the back of the neck which was like an electric shock. After that I was so well looked after and felt like a young man again ( I am a pensioner!!). One thing I would like to point out these guys are freelance and do not get paid by Zspa so this so-called "Tip" is actually the payment to the guy for their services, I also gave him 1 million VND best value ever. I have been back and had the same guy again and always top-notch. don't miss a visit to this place.“

  18. Pretty ho-hum

“Z Spa as overrated from the on-line reviews. When I showed up, I was told the service I selected from their menu (90 minute, VIP room) wasn't available because the rooms were all booked, and was promptly told about options that were available, which were the most expensive ones (2 hours, 2 masseurs). I didn't have a choice of masseur, but I got that expectation from other reviews, not Z Spa. The massage was average, and then the guy wanted to [ go further ]. He was forceful about it, kept trying to make it happen, and I had to be assertive that I wasn't going to do it. He relented but still very presumptuous on his part. I wont go back.“

  19. My best massage ever

“My last night in Vietnam and I went looking for a great massage. I had seen Zspa online and decided to go there. I was warmly welcomed on arrival and was sat down to discuss what massage I was after. I decided on a 2 hour massage in the Luxury room. I was lead upstairs to choose my masseur. My eyes went straight to a gorgeous and humble looking guy named Binh. I chose him and he introduced himself to me and led me upstairs to the Luxury room and chatted for a while getting to know each other. The room had a shower in it and so I started off with a shower and milk wash. After which Binh dried me off and led me to the bed where I lay down and he started massaging my back. He was very concerned that my needs were being met and I was very impressed with him and got more and more relaxed as the session went on. Lots of oil, rubbing and hot rocks. I was so relaxed. After that I turned over and he started massaging my face and neck area. I wont say any more but the massage quickly turned out to be one long happy ending for us both. I have never experienced anything like it before. Binh is the best masseur I have ever had or experienced and I would highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a special massage!!
My massage cost me 900,000 Dong and I was not sure what tip to pay , so I payed 1,000,000 Dong.. It was worth it!! I cant wait to visit Hanoi again and visit Zspa!“

  20. One great, another a big disappointment

“I went to Zspa twice and each time had 2 masseurs. Never done that before so I thought I'd try it. The first night with Benh and Dat was heavenly. Great massage, attentive care, no rushing. They actually cared about how they were treating me, the customer. That room had an en-suite shower and was clean and well done. This first experience was 5 stars all the way around and was go good that I returned the next night hoping for a repeat. Unfortunately for me, both Benh and Dat were off for the night. I told the manager to give me two masseurs who were equally as skilled and attentive. The result was a rushed massage, painful at times, even leaving my ear with a visible bruise. One of the masseurs was more interested in what I could do for him than what he could do for me and afterwards haggled on the amount of the tip. Honestly, I shouldn't have given them a tip at all and was insulted when he tried to press me for more. Advice to the management of Zspa: Hire more masseurs like Benh and Dat or at least train your masseurs better. Honestly, no one should have the experience I had that second night. Would I go back? Only if I could set an appointment with Benh and Dat. Otherwise, I'd check out a different place.“

    • One great, another a big disappointment

“That is why I always call ZSpa first, upon arriving in Hanoi from Saigon, in the late afternoon, to see if Dat is working that day or not. Since he is the sole reason I go there, I always reserve a time with him, before heading over.“

      • Good spa

“Actually today is Tet holiday. So Dat did not come back from his hometown & Binh was busy with another client. Thats why I took Tuan as my masseur. He's south person & I have to say I never had that feeling before. His body is great, musclin & the skill is quite good. After massage time which is very excited, the great happy ending made me feel like in the heaven, really!

For more information, there are 6 rooms available, 1 luxury (highest level), 1 VIP (mid level) & 4 standard (lowest). I chose standard room. In my opinion, standard room is somehow acceptable, but if you could, just choose VIP room for more convenient.“

  21. Favorite spa in Hanoi

“My work has me frequently flying up to Hanoi, several times a year, and ZSpa has become one of my favorite places to get a massage. Standard rooms are simple but adequate, ground floor staff is friendly. (Remember, this is an apartment building converted into a spa, not a luxury resort.)
As for comments above about high tips, I know that these men live on $250 to $300 USD per month, so I am always generous, 500,000 dong for an hour massage, a bit more for 1.5 hour.

After many visits, I now always request Dat. Cute smile, 23 years old, tight-muscle swimmers built. Dat speaks just a few words of English, but able to communicate the necessary phrases. Very intuitive as to what will make his customer happy and highly attentive to his massage technique. I always ask for Dat, he never lets our session end until I am completely satisfied. : )“

  22. Would certainly go back...

“I had plenty of Spa massages during my 3 weeks in Vietnam but was disappointed that all my massages - all very good and very professional - where delivered by females. Finishing my trip in Hanoi I went to ZSpa on my last day - I do wish though that I had visited earlier as I would have gone back again.

I walked out and apart from the road crossing to get to the other side of the flood barrier just before you reach Hong Ha Street it was an easy stroll from the Old Quarter.

I choose the VIP room and was surprised to be initially taken up one flight of stairs to be met by what I'd call a goldfish bowl of fit men all dressed in tight blue shorts and singlets - I was asked to choose my masseur - I could have chosen any one of them! I went with Binh - my rationale was I'm quite tall and wanted someone who could wash me fully in the shower! :-) His English was not great which caused a bit of confusion at times but we got by. The assisted shower to start with was great and thorough although it did feel like we were showering in a small WC. It was just a small weak shower head from the WC basin. Binh removed his singlet for the shower but kept his shorts on and then showered himself after I was back in the massage room. I'd have happily had him shower with me!

The shower was had three parts - milk, then salt scrub them soap. As I said it was very good until that is I got a whiff of the milk in the jug he used - very sour!

The massage itself was very thorough and he was attentive checking all the time that I was comfortable with what he was doing. There were times when I thought he was a bit hard pressure wise but I persevered and felt good afterwards. I lost all track of time - i may even have dosed off a little during the back massage - and soon it was time for the happy ending. I was expecting a quick happy ending but we both had a bit of fun that went way beyond what I originally expected but I certainly wasn't complaining.

This was followed by another trip to the shower and then the discussion over the tip. I had only taken enough cash with me to pay the massage and the tip - leaving all my valuables back at the hotel - so was a bit taken aback when he started asking for a tip that would have taken me over what I'd brought with me! He started at 600,000 Dong I started at 300,000. Let's say we did eventually 'agree' on some middle ground. If I was to return I'd be better prepared and whilst overall the visit was a touch expensive I would go back.“

    • Professeur

“I went the famous Zspa on 25 July shortly after 5 pm. l booked a VIP room for two hours. There were about 6 or 7 masseurs. I chose No. 12, a 24 year-old from Saigon because of his very cute smile. Although he hardly speaks any English, he was very attentive to my needs throughout, and contrary to what I had read and what I was afraid of, he never once looked at the clock to try to rush things through and never hinted at the tip. Because I was very satisfied with him, I tipped him rather generously (I believe) as he looked surprised and was very grateful to me.

The only and slight drawback is the reception. The receptionist, who does speak English, didn’t answer some of my questions and gave me the impression that he is the one who wanted to rush through the whole thing to get the business done.“

  23. Luxury room for tourists.

“Visited twice and would visit again but off to Bangkok in a few days. The location is best identified during the day via taxi or other transportation. Walking from the old quarter is certainly an option but crossing the streets to the location is difficult. The immediate area is not worth the visit. Friendly and cute staff. The luxury room would appear to be the only option for the tourist ($37 for 90 minutes). The stay is well orchestrated per se with shoes off at the entrance, choose a room and a service, shower with the staff, massage on bed in luxury room, hot stones, mud facial, tea, water, shower with the staff. A date with a massage and happy ending so to speak. The date part is not in line with expectations for a massage and a waste of time. The first person was quite quick with the motions and did not loose my interest during the massage. The second person was slow and methodical but lost my interest as the massage was not deep enough. The towel is hung on the window on the door to indicate happy ending but the entire process is interrupted with the transition between massage and happy ending. Worth a visit but 60 minutes is the better option as the massage ends after 45 minutes regardless and the accommodations are not massage tables but beds. Tipping is expected to be 300-500. Normally a percentage of the price of the room but the only room option is the most expensive option. The luxury room does include a shower in the room and more privacy. The staff picked the individual for the massage but would prefer to choose.“

  24. Rushy massage in dirty surrounding

“Based on the reviews I went in at 11.45. A bit too early as there was only one masseur available. He showered me while he stayed dressed. Soap fell on the dirty floor, he picked it up and kept on washing me with it. Small shower is disgusting and far from hygienic. I chose a 1,5 hour massage. My shower, his shower and again my shower were included in this time frame. The massage wasn't relaxing nor exciting as the guy Ken massaged me as if he had a train to catch. His English didn't reach more than the words 'you' and 'sorry'. The beds are mattresses which are not convenient for such a long time. At the end he got upset because I only gave him 25% tip. I would never go back there again.“

  25. Enjoyable Escape from Hot Hanoi Afternoon

“I took the chance to visit ZSpa on a recent trip to Hanoi. It turned out to be a very pleasant escape from a very hot Hanoi afternoon. My experience was similar to a previous review here. At reception on ground level I was handed a menu (same info as the website). I chose a 90 min massage.
You are the taken up one level to select a masseur. My chosen masseur then led me upstairs to a smallish room. You undress and you can put your valuables in a small locker there. The masseur then showers you which in my case included a simple back scrub. A good start as I found that quite enjoyable. You wait in the room for a couple of minutes whilst the masseur showers himself and gets ready. The massage itself was good and thorough, my masseur Binh really applied himself to the task, checking along the way to confirm what he was doing was ok and working on every part of my back, shoulders, arms and legs. After getting me to turn over he did also spend some time on the front. He incorporated a facial and hot stones in the massage.
I thought my masseur was attractive and quite engaging. He delivered a good competent massage service. Close to the end of the expected time, I am pleased to say I did get to have a bit of fun with him and a nice ending. After the massage, my masseur helped me to shower again. Very nice!
Most of the masseurs there seemed quite attractive. The facilities are basic but clean. The standard of English is pretty limited but I found it sufficient. It is expected that you tip the masseur so you should factor that in. It is an essential part of how they make a living. If you are happy with the service the tip might be a significant portion of the cost. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and reasonable value. I would happily go back again if I had time in Hanoi.“

  26. Visited twice

“Visited twice in November, 2013. A bit out of the way, and probably best to take a taxi to get there. Entrance downstairs, stairs up one level to an area where you can select a masseur (about 10 when I was there). Then upstairs to the small massage rooms, with mattresses on the floor. Not soundproof and one time could hear what was going on in the other room. Small lockers with keys for valuables in the room. They take you in to a small washroom and give you a shower (the masseur stayed dressed), then back to the room for the massage. The masseur went out and had a shower, then returned. First massage with Nam was good, second with An was better - although An did a mud-pack facial as part of the 1 1/2 hour massage without asking. Both time no massage provided on the front of the legs/chest/arms when turned but provided body-to-body contact. Tips are written on a paper and paid to the front desk, and not to the masseur. Enjoyed both visits since they were attractive and provided a good massage and sensual endings.“
